The Herreninsel in the Chiemsee has an area of around 240 hectares and has numerous sights with the Royal Palace, the park and waterworks, the museum and the two galleries in the Augustinian Monastery. We therefore advise you to allow yourself plenty of time to so that you can enjoy the attractions of this island to the full.

Please do not forget to allow additional time for visiting the island itself, the gardens and park as well as for breaks and for the sometimes unavoidable waiting periods.

Tip
A trail approximately 7 km long leads round the island. This will take you on well-shaded paths away from the crowds to interesting lookout points on the island.
A walk that is well worthwhile!
The paths to the various buildings are sign-posted. The buildings are accessible for wheelchairs. Tickets can be purchased in the visitor centre or in the Royal Palace. Toilets are available in the visitor centre, the Schlosshotel, the Museum in the Augustinian Monastery and the Royal Palace. In the Museum in the Augustinian Monastery and the Royal Palace there are lifts.
Large groups should
register in advance.
The carriages run from mid-April until the end of October between the boat pier and the Royal Palace (shuttle service).
The trip takes around 15 minutes (one way).
The price for a one-way trip is 3 euros, for children and young people under 18, 1 euro.

Pets, photography and smoking are not allowed in any of the buildings. Bicycles, scooters and roller blades are not allowed on the island for safety reasons. If you have come with a bicycle, please leave it behind the visitor centre at the pier (and don't take it to the palace). Dogs must be kept on leads on the island.
